April Weekends

It's been such a busy month!

Together with Easter, we've had my sister and her boys fly over, we've had weddings and birthdays and housewarming and all sorts of other things.

John and Lanni's Wedding reception in Jade

My sister and I went birdwatching in Joondalup.  We were after green parrots.  We found pigeons.

Buddha Festival 2010

And with my manager on long service leave the past six weeks, I've been flat out juggling two jobs!

Bootcamp with E-wen.  20 push-ups for being slack

Thats why I'm so glad that my bags are packed and I'm on holidays from tomorrow!

Yay!

Looking forward to lots of food and relaxation.  :)

Perth storm

Its almost been a month since the devastating storm which hit Perth.  The storm, which threw golf-ball sized hailstones wrecked havoc to the city and destroyed properties and cars.

I was driving back from work and experienced March's average total rainfall pour down in seven minutes.

It was scary.  To have rain so strong it was cutting radio reception.  The car was rocking back and forth as if someone was outside trying to tip the car over.  But I don't think it would be anywhere as scary as having hailstones smash into the car and break the windscreen.  It was such a freaky storm - one that we'll hopefully never see again.

Engagement Tea Ceremony

Last month Anh and I celebrated our engagement....... again :)

This time was a traditional engagement tea ceremony.

From what I was told, the Vietnamese engagement tea ceremony involves the groom's family bringing gifts to the bride's house as offering for the bride's hand in marriage.

They said back in the old days, when marriages were still arranged, this would be the first time the bride and groom meet.  And that the gifts were kinda like a down payment or a deposit in case the groom ran away. Hahahaha.

Okay, maybe I made that last bit up.  I'm not really sure of the history but I'm guessing its originated from the Chinese marriage tea ceremony, which is very similar.

It was cloudy that day but thankfully it didn't rain.

The actual tea ceremony didn't run according to plan but it was just all laughs and giggles in the end.

Anh's family worried if the Groom was any good

Pink is the new black

There were plenty of food and great company which made for a great day.

Thank you to everyone who helped out.  A lot of people put a lot of work for this day and it was just really nice to have everyone there enjoy it with us.

I'm looking forward to the big day - its gonna have firecrackers and a whole pig!

Red Bean Pancakes

Anh and I tried a box of Red Bean Pancakes we picked from the Korean store.  The instructions were in Korean so we had to guess how you make it   We missed the bit on activating the yeast, but we somehow managed to get it puffy by adding boiling water and letting it set on top of the grill.

Turned out quite good, especially with ice cream :)
