Mythbusting - Coin in Egg

My workmate Peter was going on and on about a home remedy his family uses to treat flu and fever.

He says its 100% effective.

What you do, he says, is boil an egg. Once hard-boiled, peel it.  Then put a coin in the egg (yes, you read right, put a coin in the egg).  Wrap the coin-in-egg in a handkerchief or towel then rub the wrapped egg all over your body.

The coin, he says, absorbs all the bad energy from the body and will in fact turn black from it.

Peter reckons his mom could tell if they were lying about being sick because the coin wouldn't turn black if they were faking it.

So when the girlfriend got sick, I took the oppurtunity to give the coin-in-egg remedy a go.
Hahaha. You should have seen how weird my girlfriend looked rubbing a warm egg on her neck and chest.

Suffice to say, it didn't work.

My girlfriend didn't get better, nor did the coin turn black.

I couldn't get myself to eat the egg afterwards though.

I was worried it DID absorb some sickly energy.

Update 30/4/09 - Peter told me that I can't use normal 20 cent coins! I need to get a silver coin.  And that I shouldn't have the yold in the egg.  I guess this mythbusting experiment is not over yet!!

Japanese Food Tripping Again

I really wanted to post my Melbourne photos up. But I realised I haven't finished posting Japanese stuff!!!

One trip at a time they always say.

So pardon the delayed Japan trip photos, but I really wanted to put these up - weird and wonderful japanese food stuffs :P

Japanese cakes are DA BOMB! They look so good you don't know if you're suppose to eat them or put it on your head

Pikachu meals. Food for legendary trainers.

Manneken waffles. The Krispy Kremes of waffles.

Speaking of donuts, the Japanese are really big on donuts. These are Dean and Deluca donuts. Donut Factory donuts are also awesomenesses. But Krispy Kremes... OMG... the Japs are (do)nuts about them!

Its like an amusement park line - complete with estimated time before order!

Tokyo Bananas. I love this bananishy yumminess.

They have black eggs bathed Sulfur. They really need Hello Kitty to sell these.

Thirsty? Have a dorink!!!

Soup-in-a-can, warm and chunky!

Snoopy pork buns!

And after eating all of this, it all goes here anyways.

Sleeping around (and the crazy Pussy)

3Willings
1) Kung-Fu Panda
2) Jean Claude Patisserie
3) Miss Gold Digger

After about an hour of seeing Guild war characters parade in head, I finally got some sleep last night.

Nothing beats sleeping in your own bed.

I blame it on my nomadic lifestyle.

For the most of this year, I've been sleeping around on other beds. Holidays and staying over at other peoples places. Which is actually quite tiring because I'm never quite settled.

Which doesn't do any good for my already sleep deprived self. The bags are starting to give me that panda look.

The last two weeks saw me house-sitting in Willagee.

Fully equipped (including ADSL2+) and a silver kitchen to boot, I thought this was going to be a great house-sitting job. Closeness to bubble tea was true awesomeness.

The trucks chugging down Leach Highway and Stock road was not so awesomeness.

Another not-so awesome thing was the house cat.

You see, I've never been fond of cats. Our past neighbors had cats. It ate the birds while they played in the bird bath. Sometimes the cat sleeps on the hood of our car, scratching the paint at the same time.

In this chapter, I had a cat-mate named Diesel.

Diesel aka 'Crazy Cat'

Diesel, loved meowing all night long. He followed me everywhere I went which was nice... until I needed to go to the toilet and he's still there by my side (the thought of the cat going for my bird did cross my mind).

And he loves sitting on my lap... and clawing my thighs at the same time.

The more I pull, the deeper the claws dig.
I think he bore holes on two work pants.

There was one night when his claws came inches from a very sensitive spot.

Having no intentions of having my testicles skewered by the cat, I lock him outside when I'm in the computer room.

One night I emerged out of the room to find my mobile phone (which I dismantle earlier) on the floor and bits scattered everywhere.

No where to be found was the sim card.

The crazy cat is highly suspect.

Maybe if I call my sim card, the cat might start ringing.

Valentine O Ate

3Willings
1) Guitar Hero 3
2) Jordin Sparks - Shy Boy
3) Computer upgrades
I'm kicking myself.

I was pretty sure I was gonna up the ante on Valentines Day this year.

Something classy.

Maybe a candlelight dinner

with KFC and rice or something.

Sadly my baby and I are on a 'no-fast food diet'. So that's no good.

Plus my baby is far away for work.
I guess you can't have a valentines day date if you don't have a date. Go figure.

Im spending Valentines Day house sitting my girlfriend's house because her family have krabi.

It weird sleeping in this house all alone. Its like she's here but she's not.

Then again, I really should stop going through her things and underwear.

Anyways, here's some photos our last date.

I love the ketchup bottle

Dam! The burgers at FAB are huge!

Angry!!!! How am I suppose to eat that?!

House of the disappearing pants

3Willings
1) OneRepublic - Mercy
2) 600mL Pepsi Max for breakfast
3) Kingdom Hearts 2

My brother and I said goodbye to the house we stayed in for most of 2007.

It was our little home away from home (even though our parent's house was just a three minute drive away).

Our exuberant lifestyle meant that it was better to rent the house and go our separate way.
So my brother has moved-in with his partner and I've moved back home.

Now as I think back, living away from the parent's watchful eyes had its ups and downs. Yes, I got to do what I want, but I was also responsible for taking care of myself. So I had to do my own laundry, shopping and cleaning up. I had lots of house jobs, albeit small ones coz I’m pretty low maintenance (so I’d like to think).

At home with the parents is a communal style of living. Chores such as dining, laundry, shopping and cleaning-up are done together. We all try and do our fair share (try is the operative word).

The thing I liked the most about living away from my parents was being able to control when, where and what I had for dinner.

I really enjoyed trying out the Men's Health recipes (my favourite was where you use salsa chip-dipping sauce and you simmer that with chicken - what a surprise dish that was). Its so hard to eat healthy or gourmet when mom owns the kitchen.

Sometimes, when I'm especially hungry, I make my 'Will's bowl-a-rice special'. This recipe has cooked rice thrown in a baking bowl with ham or chicken or whatever meat I can get a hold of. Add some peas and a fried egg (the runnier the better). Mix to a slimy consistency and squirt a bit of ketchup for colour.

Then I eat with an especially large spoon while watching TV.

It’s so Korean, I love it.

*Warning! Have a glass of water when having this dish. I nearly choked twice because I was shovelling too much food to my mouth.

But apart from this, walking around naked, leaving the toilet seat up, the numerous hooker house calls and the messy house parties, moving out didn’t really have that much pros for me.

Im sure its different for some other people. But not for me.

What I definitely won’t miss was my disappearing pants!

See my brother has this really really really really really REALLY annoying habit of not buying work pants. So when he realises he hasn’t got any pants for work – he steals mine!

Figure this equation out for me. Every year, for the past five years, I’ve bought three or four pants for work.

So surely I had about fifteen pairs?

No sir.

I had two pairs.

These two pairs I kept specially clean. If one got dirty, I’ll only have one left. People at work would notice me recycling the same pair for the whole week (Its not so obvious if I alternated the two pairs).

One time, I asked my brother if he knew where my pants were. He said he didn’t know.

But checking his wardrobe, I find four pairs with the initials “W” on the inside pockets. His excuse ? “Ooops..”

GRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRR!!!

This didn't just happen once or twice.

This happened EVERY WEEK!

I was close to tears when I was telling my cousins about my brother’s pants stealing habit. It really was very frustrating.

I have bad dreams about pants now.

Its like two people in an elevator and one smells flatulence. You both know who did it, but the guilty one just doesn’t’ want to admit it!

Now that I’m living away from my brother, my collection have grown back to a healthy five pairs of pants.

There were more ups and down to living away from home. I was gonna go on about the neighbors and very convenient two minute drive to McDonald's.

But now I grow tired after thinking about my disappearing pants.
So depressing that was.
