Albany

Anh and I had the most splendid weekend when we visited my brother in Albany.

It was a 6 hour bus ride to get there but was good fun because Anh kept me company (we did nothing but eat in the bus hehehehe).

Chicko rolls for the bus ride

Now I said 'splendid' because thats the impression I got of this small country town.

Its like a very cosy little english village.  The weather is very cold and houses look the part.

Its a beautiful town and one I'd definitely visit again.

Doggie

Above is a picture of Albany's peaceful protest against the construction of a new building. Take that you construction company - eat our socks!

I'll visit Albany again because Mark tells me there's fishing to be done!  Hehehe. Speaking of fishing, my brother surprised us all by taking us whale watching!  It was such a cool adventure.  Our captain was funny and charming and he really made us feel like we were in an adventure to catch Moby Dick.

Thankfully we didn't have to wait very long to spot some Humpback whales!

Man these things are massive!! (I'm kicking myself for not brining my telescopic lens!)

We did lots of sightseeing - Denmark was just as beautiful (although the town was so empty!)

Best of all it was nice to spend time with my bro again.  We watched the soccer that night and ate home made leek and potato soup with pan fried snapper.

Unseriously

Miss Bossy was spot on with her post.

During my single days, I use to say the same thing.  Why do girls go gugu for the stupid man-beef-block-heads all the time.   I'm a nice guy! I open doors, I change my underwear (sometimes).  Why weren't girls Googling me?

I originally thought it was a confidence thing. Just being more confident makes you more attractive.  Lots of hair gel, doing exercises before going out (to temporarily beef up the muscles),

But Miss Bossy's post nailed it right on the head - you gotta be interesting! Keeping things un-boring will have people gravitate to me.  And it worked!  I caught myself a girl using octopus hotdogs!

Anyways.  Its been a very random day so I'll continue with some very random pics from the last few weeks.

I was eying the meaty slices amongst the very green pizza box.

Does anyone know where I can get Melon breads? I LOVE melon bread!

Penguins from Madagascar, Universal Studios Singapore.  Hahaha. I love the little kid's expression on the right.

I haven't been blogging because I was busy playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. OMG What an epic game!  Nearly wet my pants when I played The Gulag Level.  Its a level similar to the The Rock (my favourite action movie). Only thing missing was Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery.  I also finished Deep Space. OmG THAT was scary!

Fish foot spa in Times Square, Kuala Lumpur.  The fishies were ticklish.  The experience was enjoyable until they cornered us and started selling skin remover potions $100 a bottle!

Salmon Run 2009

Around this time every year, I head south of Perth with friends and family to Bunker Bay to try my luck with the elusive West Australian Salmon!

Fishing road trips are the best!
The fat bream... and the fish

Fresh air, blue skies and the glory of catching a salmon!  Hehehehe.

Schools of WA salmon move around the coast of Dunsborough during this time of the year.  It's very exciting stuff because it's not often you get big fishies so close to shore.

But after four hours of fishing, no salmons :(

Locals say its too early. Maybe if we went next week or the week after.

I caught this salmon on my breakfast plate.  It came with toast and poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. :P

Nonetheless, we caught lots of other fishies and had a great time.

Anh, the herring queen. She caught so many herrings, I spent more time unhooking and cleaning her catch than actually fishing :P

My brother caught many weird and wonderful fish.  None we took home coz they all looked scary

We spent the next day driving around checking the attractions and wineries around Margaret River.
Canal rocks never cease to impress me. Watching big waves smash into big rocks is hypnotising

We had lunch at Voyager estate, where I had the best meal ever!!  Pork cutlets with crumbed feta served with fried apples.  My mouth waters just thinking about it!

Voyager estate has an awesome garden, but the white house and the huge flag pole reminds me of Camp Biggest Loser for some reason

Then we followed it up with a short trip to Margaret River town centre and Mango ice cream from Simmo's.  Sweet indulgence - so good!

My only regret was having to drive back home.

*sighs*

Until next year then. :)
